Prof. Luke Osamudiamen Obasuyi, CLN, MNLA
Prof. Luke Osamudiamen Obasuyi, CLN, is a distinguished figure in the field of library science and currently serves as the University Librarian at the University of Benin. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Library Science from Delta State University, Abraka, along with a Master’s and a PhD in Library, Archival, and Information Studies from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. With a career spanning over 26 years, he has been instrumental in managing information services at both the Nigeria Institute for Oil Palm Research (NIFOR) and the University of Benin.
Prof. Obasuyi’s journey began with his appointment as NIFOR’s Librarian in 2004, and he later transitioned to the University of Benin in 2011, where he served in various roles, ultimately becoming the Deputy University Librarian in 2017 and the substantive University Librarian in 2018. He was also appointed as a professor in 2020, further solidifying his academic and professional credentials.
In addition to his administrative responsibilities, Prof. Obasuyi has actively pursued professional development, attending numerous workshops and training programs both locally and internationally. He is a Certified Librarian of Nigeria (CLN), a member of the Nigerian Library Association (MNLA), and has a notable research portfolio, comprising 40 publications in local, national, and international journals and book chapters. His contributions to the field have earned him a well-deserved reputation as a respected authority in library science.
